Live Scan Fingerprinting

Live Scan captures fingerprint impressions electronically and submits them to the appropriate California Department of Justice processing system based on the requesting agency’s instructions. Digital capture can help produce clear, consistent impressions and reduce delays caused by rejected prints.

Live Scan service is available only when all required operator certifications, equipment approvals, and agency requirements are active and confirmed.

Ink Fingerprinting

Traditional ink fingerprinting may be used for federal requests, out-of-state applications, professional licensing, immigration-related requirements, and agencies that request fingerprint cards. FBI FD-258 cards are commonly used, but you should confirm the correct card and number of copies with the requesting organization.

What to Bring

• The completed fingerprint or Live Scan request form supplied by the requesting agency

• A valid, current government-issued photo ID

• Any fingerprint cards, agency codes, billing numbers, or special instructions

• The requesting agency’s contact information

• Payment in the accepted form confirmed before your appointment

Common primary identification may include a driver’s license, state identification card, U.S. passport or passport card, military identification, permanent resident card, employment authorization card, or another qualifying government-issued photo ID. Identification requirements vary, so contact us before your appointment if you are unsure.

Mobile and Group Service

Mobile or group fingerprinting may be available for employers, organizations, healthcare facilities, schools, and community groups by prior arrangement. Travel charges, minimum appointment requirements, and service availability will be confirmed in advance.

Important Information

The requesting agency—not the fingerprint technician—determines which form, submission type, background-check level, and identification documents are required. Processing times and results are controlled by the receiving government agency.
